Larissa Warren's ceramic practise is driven by the fascination of the minerals and clays underneath, the layers of the earth and how they are uncovered. Echoing the local landscape and using raw South East Queensland clays, Larissa looks to geological metamorphosis and histories when developing concepts.
At the beginning of 2020 Larissa began digging into the lineage of past local female ceramic makers from Tamborine Mountain, where she lives and works. Her research led to the rediscovery of forgotten local wild clays and a wonderful timeline of tough and resilient women makers; contributions she has made to her community, her audiences and to Australian contemporary art.
