Patsy Hely was born in Cronulla/Kurranulla and lives and works in Canberra/Kamberi Australia.
Her initial training was at the now National Art School, Sydney, and she worked as an academic from 1989 – 2001 at Southern Cross University and 2002 - 2014, at the ANU School of Art and Design.
She was awarded a PhD in 2006 for her project Ceramics and the articulation of place and her work is held in many collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum.
Her practice also encompasses writing and curating, with essays published in national and international publications.
