Born in Pasadena, California, and raised in a family of scientists, Cavener's approach to sculpture is both technically rigorous and emotionally intense. Cavener’s sculptures challenge viewers to confront their own psychological landscapes, using exaggerated body language and contorted postures to express states of inner conflict. Her work is deeply influenced by mythological and literary themes, exploring the complexities of human nature through animalistic forms.
Her sculptures have been exhibited widely in prestigious galleries and museums, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and the Archie Bray Foundation.
