Biosphere Boodja Arts and Wild Things Festival
Wedge presenter Fleur Schell is the creative director of our sister festival Biosphere Boodja Arts and Wild Things Festival, running over the King’s Birthday long weekend from Sunday 28 September to Monday 29 September 2025.
The festival offers visiting ceramic artists a connection to the heart of WA’s clay country, which lies on Nyungar Ballardong Boodja or Country. The festival takes place in the tiny town of Goomalling, Schell’s home town, in the Avon Valley, north-east of Perth, an easy two hour's drive from Fremantle in the middle of wildflower season.
The festival has grown into a major cultural event including free clay-play tents, a crop circle ceramic installation art walk, giant puppet and lantern parade, and at sunset, a stunning audiovisual projection on the giant grain storage domes depicting animations of Fleur Schell’s imaginative childhood stories, and creation stories of the Nyungar Ballardong people.
The night continues with live musical performances and overnight camping options, including glamping tents.

The festival highlights the values at the heart of the Triennale: inclusion, creativity, and collaboration across cultures and generations.
