About
Srinia Chowdhury is a New Delhi-based artist with a Fine Arts degree from the College of Art, Delhi, and a master’s in Sculpture (Bronze) from the Government College of Art and Craft. Drawn to

Artist Statement
At WEDGE 2025, Srinia Chowdhury will present a demonstration exploring the timeless art of sgraffito on ceramics, bridging traditional aesthetics with contemporary storytelling. Her demonstration focuses on narrative-driven, figurative illustrations, drawing inspiration from the carved surfaces of traditional Nizamabad pottery in India. Renowned for its distinctive black clay with silver inlay designs, Nizamabad pottery embodies a raw yet refined aesthetic—a quality she seeks to echo in her work.
This full-day demonstration will guide participants through the process of designing, transferring, and carving intricate illustrations onto ceramic surfaces, with an emphasis on precision and storytelling. Additionally, she will introduce surface treatments that enhance depth and bring a contemporary touch to sgraffito designs. Through this session, Srinia aims to honor traditional techniques while reinterpreting them in a modern context.
