Beth Cavener Workshop
Join internationally renowned sculptor Beth Cavener for an intensive two-day workshop exploring the conceptual and technical foundations of her large-scale figurative work.
Day 1: The morning begins with a process talk on developing studies and building a cohesive body of work around a central concept. Beth will discuss why scale, gesture, and placement are crucial starting points. This will be followed by a demonstration on introducing complexity and subtlety into the form, including engineering and constructing an armature.
After lunch, Beth will guide participants through large-scale thinking with step-by-step examples of sculpting, hollowing, and reassembling a piece. The afternoon session includes a demonstration on cutting the work from the armature and beginning the hollowing process on extremities.
