with the launch of MRIN: The Journal of Indian Ceramic Art, Issue 6. Ceramic Practices in Indian Ocean Rim Countries


The Edge of the Wedge exhibition at Old Customs House, Fremantle is presented by and alongside the Australian Ceramics Triennale.

The show includes ceramics by more than 130 artists from Australia, India, Canada, Ireland, Belgium, Brazil and beyond. Highlights include the International Academy of Ceramics founded in 1952, The Indian Ceramic Art Foundation promoting Indian ceramics globally and a showcase of works from Warrandyte Pottery Expo in Victoria  that celebrates a 25 year anniversary.

edge of the Wedge promises to be an outstanding display of ceramic talent and technique with a huge diversity of works, and a premier attraction on the Australian Ceramics Triennale Program.

WEDGE conference presenters or demonstrators represented in edge of the WEDGE include Jane Annois, Ian Clare, Kate Dourough, Karin Amdal, Steven Low Thai Kwang, Jane Jermyn, Minna Graham, Gabriela Mello, Avi Amesbury, Falguni Bhatt, Kirsty Collins, Amelia Lynch, Rosana Tagliari Bortolin, Jacquie Sosnowski, Clarissa Reagan, Julia Grillo Botafogo, Fergus Stewart and locals Greg Crowe, Robyn Lees, Sandra Black.

The International Academy of Ceramics is represented in a unique showcase of works by members; Andrea Barker, Elena Renker, Graham Hay, Greg Daly, Gudren Klix, Jane Annois, Jane Sawyer, Janet DeBoos, John Dermer OAM, John Parker, Julie Bartholomew, Prue Venables, Roberty Barron, Sally Walk, Simone Fraser, Ted Secombe, Adil Writer (India), Falguni Bhatt (India), Jane Jermyn (Ireland), Patty Wouters (Belgium), Trudy Golley (Canada).

14 member artists of Indian Ceramic Art Foundation (ICAF), show miniatures inspired by the Sanskrit word Sreni, which refers to social strata or class categories that continue to define and divide India’s people. Featuring Abir Patwardhan, Falguni Bhatt, Kavita Pandya, Ruddhi Vichare, Shalini Dam, Kunal Ukey, Shweta Mansingka, Saraswati, Shirley Bhatnagar, Suraj Kumar Sahu, Madhur Sen, Arun Pal, Khanjan Dalal, Karan & Anil.

The Warrandyte Pottery Expo presents works by Rob Barron, Ana Jensen, Judy Trembath, Jack Latti, Sergei Shatrov, Naoko Coghlan, Chris Pittard, Janice Keen, Linda DeToma, Natasha Chant, Adriana Christianson, Sue McFarland, Minna Graham, Mary Lou Pittard, Damien Santamaria, Glenn England, Terunobu Hirata, John Stroomer, Trevor Smith, Marina Pribaz, Wonki Kim, Gillian Martin, Jessie Pittard, Jane Annois, Gabie Mello, Emma  J V Parker, Josephine Cassar, Pippa Bell, Marlize Myburgh, Danni Bryant, Adam Cox, to celebrate a 25 year anniversary.

Gillian Hodes, Maria Kraatz, Joanne Linsdell, Donna McDonald present as Threads, spanning Darwin to Ballarat. From South Coast NSW; Amy Kennedy, Janna Ferris, Sarah Ormonde, Sarah Murray. Plus Jooyun Lim, Mojgan Habibi, Philippa Taylor (Australia) and Lauren Kalman (USA).

HOME, is an showcase  inspired by local legend Fleur Schell and a group of ceramicists she has been nurturing across Australia - Adrienne Mann, Bianca Wirth, Debbie Bennett, Gail Mccahon, Georgia Zoric, Juliet van Oirschot, Lucie Byrnes, Lynnea Stewart, Miki Bonnardeaux, Peta Riley, Samantha Lawrence, Laypunk, Shane Newton, Tammy Crannis and Tanya Bechara.

Western Australia artists and arts groups represented are Stewart Scambler, Danica Wichtermann, Francesca Geromino, Pamela Chaves, Jenny Dawson, Ana de Sousa Rosa, Jen Kerr, Melissa Ellero, and Canning Arts Group – Jill  Archibald, Narelle Fulwood, Rebecca Tester; Perth Potters studio -  Jane McNabb, Rita Brooks, Yvonne Kitchener and regional WA artists woodfire legends Chester Nealie, Cher Shackleton and Margaret River artists, Ian Dowling, Georgia Zoric, Lauren Rudd, Camille Reid.
